…A very articulate and rational observation as usual. Being a self-proclaimed agnostic who believes in the value of scientific method for both the social and natural world, I know enough to know that I don’t know everything. I cannot disprove the existence of God anymore than you can prove to me that God does exist by thumping a bible.
I do find it interesting that, as you mention, so many Christians view science as a threat to their beliefs evolution especially. I try emphasis on try to explain to them that evolution does not have to be contradictory to the existence of the God that they believe in. There is no reason that God did not set up the universe and earth to follow the path of evolution. The same goes for physics as well. If God as they know him exists, isn’t it possible that the laws of physics were created by God for us to follow? Einstein said something to the same effect.
But I do disagree to a point, your assertion that just because certain areas are predominantly christian, it’s not a big…

Roland Straten, Republican candidate for Congress in the 8th District, found fresh reason for optimism as his opponent appeared less willing to ignore him, and as a powerful Democratic sheriff resigned and took his $1 million war chest with him.

…In his latest mailing to supporters, sent this morning, Straten highlighted the incident at the “senior forum” held by Democratic incumbent Bill Pascrell. At that forum, Straten and Mark Kalinowski of the North New Jersey Tea Party Group separately tried to enter the Montclair Town Council chambers, the venue of the forum, to hand out campaign flyers. Ann Mega, Pascrell’s field representatives, accosted each man in turn and physically touched each man, as Straten confirmed to this Examiner afterward. (Straten did not characterize Mega’s gesture as a “shove,” because he simply retreated before the interaction could escalate to that point and then re-entered the chambers through another door. Kalinowski, for his part, objected loudly to Mega’s behavior toward him and thus called attention to himself.)
