Gears of War Movie Gets a Pretty Big Budget Cut

New Line Cinema has deemed Gears of War not worthy of a blockbuster sized budget.

…So it seems that the New Line lawyers and execs have looked at a game replete with chainsaw kills and gunning down roided-out mutants in a blockbuster bloodbath and decided they want the usual kiddied-down PG13 filth to get greenlit, full of gosh-darns and aw geez! moments instead of what Hudson pioneered in 1986’s Aliens. (Yes, I know that wasn’t a game movie but it showed what sci-fi monster killing action can be in its most glorious form.) Ah, yes don’t forget the love story. Gotta have the guy get the girl. WTF.
It’s sad how the movie industry works these days. Sad and infuriating. This project should be a steal, considering the fanbase the games have. But no leave it to the twinks in suits , lawyers and execs who’ve never even been behind a camera or watched a movie for fun to get their savvy intuition going and great projects get axed while I’m sure the next sequel to Paul Blart: Mall Cop is hot in development. Makes me sick.
